Davido Reveals Why He Doesn’t Want His Children to Pursue Music Careers

Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about why he hopes none of his children follows in his footsteps as a professional musician, saying the challenges he has faced in the industry make him reluctant to encourage such a path.

The award-winning singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, shared his thoughts during a recent episode of The Vibe Podcast, where he reflected on his journey in music and how it has shaped his views as a father.

Davido revealed that his second daughter, Hailey Veronica Adeleke, already shows strong interest in music and possesses impressive vocal talent. According to him, her personality also reminds him of his younger self.

“I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. My second daughter [Hailey] is already leaning towards music. She is the life of the party. She behaves just like me. She actually has a good voice.”

Despite acknowledging Hailey’s talent, the singer admitted he is hesitant to support a music career because of the personal sacrifices and pressures he has experienced over the years.

“But I know what I went through. Can you go through what I go through? Knowing what I have been through, I’m skeptical about encouraging any of my children to do music.”

However, Davido made it clear that he would never stand in the way of his children’s ambitions, recalling how his own parents eventually supported his decision to pursue music despite initial reservations.

“But because my parents and my family eventually allowed me chase my dreams, I would never want to block any of my children from chasing their dreams. And if they are good, why not?”

The singer’s comments offer a rare glimpse into his life as a father, highlighting the balance he hopes to strike between protecting his children from the harsh realities of the entertainment industry and giving them the freedom to pursue their passions.
