Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has criticised a motorist she accused of driving against traffic in Lagos, saying she refused to give way despite the vehicle allegedly attempting to bypass congestion.
Osunde shared her reaction in a video posted online, where she alleged that the driver abandoned the proper lane and entered a route designated for motorists travelling towards Lekki.
The actress said she deliberately remained in her lane and blocked the vehicle, arguing that traffic congestion should not be used as an excuse to disregard road regulations.
“I will not leave my lane for you when you are passing one way. I won’t do it. I don’t care if you have police in your car,” Osunde said.
She maintained that she was prepared to spend more time in traffic rather than facilitate what she described as a traffic violation.
Osunde also criticised motorists who she said routinely ignore traffic rules in Lagos, arguing that such behaviour makes an already difficult traffic situation worse.
“I’m sick of Nigerians just doing anyhow, as if Lagos is not congested enough, without you passing one way and breaking traffic lights,” she said.
The actress said she would make an exception for vehicles responding to genuine emergencies, including ambulances and fire trucks.
“Unless you’re an ambulance or a fire truck and emergency service, I will not leave my lane for you when you’re passing one way. I won’t,” she added.
Her comments have drawn attention online as motorists and other road users continue to debate the enforcement of traffic regulations and the conduct of drivers navigating Lagos’ heavily congested roads.
