Paul Pogba is set to leave Monaco after the French club decided to terminate his contract following a difficult spell disrupted by injuries.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder returned to football with Monaco after serving a doping ban but has struggled to regain his previous level of performance.

Monaco said the targets agreed with Pogba had been only partly achieved, leading the Ligue 1 club to end a contract that was originally due to run until June 2027.

Pogba’s latest setback is a thigh injury, which came shortly after he had recovered from a knee problem. The repeated injuries have limited his involvement since joining the French side.

Despite the decision to part ways, Monaco praised Pogba for his attitude and professionalism during his time at the club.

The club highlighted his determination and high standards, while also noting that he continued to contribute to the squad when unavailable to play.

Monaco said Pogba had shared his experience and knowledge with younger members of the team, helping him maintain a positive influence despite his physical setbacks.

The departure represents another difficult chapter in Pogba’s career. A World Cup winner with France in 2018, he now faces uncertainty over his next move as he attempts to rebuild his career after years affected by injuries and his doping suspension
