Nigerian Army troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have arrested five females suspected of supplying logistics to terrorists in Ngurusoye village, Borno State.
The suspects were intercepted at about 6:48 p.m. on August 17 by troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion following intelligence reports about their alleged activities, security analyst Zagazola Makama said.
The suspects were identified as 53-year-old Falmata Jibrin, 50-year-old Hajja Zaragon, 50-year-old Falmata Ali, 30-year-old Inagana Modu and 13-year-old Falmata Abubakar.
Troops reportedly recovered 65 packs of sweets, 117 packs of biscuits and 167 sachets of Dangote salt, alongside other food provisions, during the operation.
Makama said the arrest followed intelligence gathering on the suspects and their alleged role in providing supplies to terrorist elements operating in the area.
“The suspects were intercepted at about 6:48 p.m. on Aug. 17 by troops of 151 Task Force Battalion deployed in the area, following intelligence on their activities,” he said.
The suspects and the recovered items have since been handed over to the 21 Special Anti-Banditry Mobile Police Regiment (21 SAB MOPOL) for further investigation.
The development comes amid ongoing military operations in Borno aimed at disrupting terrorist networks and cutting off the logistics channels that support their activities.
The circumstances surrounding the involvement of the 13-year-old suspect were not disclosed in the report, while the allegations against all five suspects remain subject to investigation.
