Kuje Chairman Threatens to Resist Residents Opposing APC Ahead of 2027 Election

Kuje Area Council chairman Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo has sparked controversy after reportedly warning residents against working against the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a video circulating on social media, Shekwolo said he would not accept opposition to the APC or President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term from people within the area council.

The chairman linked his position to development projects he said have been carried out by President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Kuje Area Council. He argued that residents should support the ruling party because of those projects.

Shekwolo said he had made his position clear within the area council, warning that residents who do not support the APC should not expect his acceptance.

“I have said in my area council that it’s either you are for the APC or you leave the area council. I am not arguing about it at all,” he said in the video.

He went on to question why residents would oppose the APC at the ballot box while benefiting from projects associated with Tinubu and Wike.

“You know why? I cannot have the Minister and the President doing what they are doing, then on the day of the election, you will now say you want to match me. I will not agree,” Shekwolo said.

The chairman ended his remarks with a further warning, declaring: “It’s either you are with us or you are against us.”

His comments come as political activity and positioning ahead of the 2027 elections intensify across Nigeria.
