Fubara Pledges Stronger Army Partnership to Protect Rivers Assets

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged continued collaboration with the Nigerian Army to protect critical infrastructure and combat economic sabotage across the state.

Fubara made the commitment when he received the General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army 6 Division, Major General Kingsley Uwa, who paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.

The governor stressed that protecting infrastructure vital to Nigeria’s economy requires close cooperation between the Rivers State Government and security agencies.

He commended the Nigerian Army for its contribution to maintaining security in Rivers State and assured the military of continued government support for security operations.

The partnership comes against the backdrop of persistent concerns over crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.

For Rivers, which hosts major oil and gas infrastructure, the protection of critical national assets remains closely tied to economic stability and the security of communities across the state.

Fubara said his administration would sustain its partnership with the military as part of efforts to safeguard infrastructure and strengthen security across Rivers State.

The effectiveness of the renewed cooperation will ultimately be measured by whether it leads to stronger protection of critical assets and tangible progress in curbing economic sabotage.
