Peter Obi’s blocked visit to Benue has taken a wider political turn, after Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo condemned the incident.

Obi had travelled to Yelwata to sympathise with victims of the deadly attack there, but his convoy was reportedly blocked by suspected thugs.

Obi’s camp described the incident as an attempt to stop him from entering the state.

But the Benue State Government denied involvement, saying Obi did not follow the required protocol for the visit.

Now, Keyamo has weighed in, saying the blockade of Obi’s convoy should not be part of Nigeria’s democracy.

The controversy comes as political activity ahead of the 2027 elections continues to intensify.

For now, the competing accounts over what happened in Benue remain unresolved.
