2027: Tinubu, Peter Obi Previously Endorsed Atiku — ADC Campaign Spokesman Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential campaign under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that President Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi previously endorsed Atiku for president.

Okonkwo made the claim during a recent press briefing while discussing the presidential ambitions of Atiku, Tinubu and Obi ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, Tinubu backed Atiku’s presidential bid in 2007, while Obi endorsed the former vice president in the 2019 election.

Okonkwo argued that the endorsements set Atiku apart from the other two politicians, saying he was the only one among them to have received support from both at different times.

“Bola Tinubu endorsed Atiku to be president in 2007. Peter Obi endorsed Atiku to be president in 2019,” Okonkwo said.

He questioned why voters should look beyond Atiku’s record of receiving political support from both Tinubu and Obi at different points.

“Two out of the three of them, Atiku is the only person that has been endorsed by the other two. So, if the other two believe that he is the best, what are you looking for?” he added.

Okonkwo said the three politicians were familiar with one another politically but suggested that voters should make their own assessment of the candidates ahead of 2027.

“They know themselves, but they don’t know themselves more than you and I,” he said.

The comments come as Atiku, Tinubu and Obi emerge as major figures in the political realignment ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with parties and political groups intensifying efforts to build alliances and secure voter support.
