Kunle Remi Reveals Why His Wife Does Not Kneel for Every Elder

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has revealed that his wife, Tiwi, does not kneel when greeting every elderly person, saying she reserves the gesture for people who are particularly close to her.

The actor made this known during an interview with VJ Adams while discussing his marriage and his wife’s approach to showing respect to older people.

According to Remi, Tiwi kneels to greet her grandparents and parents but does not believe age alone means she must kneel for every elderly person she meets.

“My wife doesn’t even understand what kneeling means; she can kneel for her grandparents, her parents, but can’t kneel for every elderly person,” Remi said.

The comment comes amid long-standing cultural expectations in parts of Nigeria that younger people should kneel or bow when greeting older people as a sign of respect.

Remi also opened up about his relationship with Tiwi, describing his wife as his best friend and reflecting on the values that have shaped their marriage.

The actor said prayer played an important role in his approach to finding a life partner. He recalled asking God to reveal things he did not know and teach him what he needed to learn.

Remi also said he prayed for the ability to take care of the woman who would eventually become his wife.

His comments offered a glimpse into the couple’s approach to marriage while also highlighting differing views about traditional ways of showing respect to elders.
