NNPP Warns Against Impostors, Denies 2027 Coalition Deal

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has warned politicians, candidates and members of the public against dealing with individuals allegedly presenting themselves as authorised leaders or candidates of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also said it has not joined any political coalition or entered into a working arrangement with another political party ahead of the elections. The position was contained in a statement by NNPP founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam.

Aniebonam alleged that some individuals who had been expelled from the party were still presenting themselves as NNPP leaders, despite what he said were court judgments and recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He further alleged that the individuals were seeking money from unsuspecting political parties and candidates.

He specifically mentioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), urging any political actors who may have paid money to the alleged impostors for nomination fees or alliance arrangements to seek refunds.

“The authentic NNPP with basket of fruits logo is not a member of any coalition,” Aniebonam said, stressing that the party currently considers itself independent.

He said the NNPP could consider strategic alliances with other political parties if necessary, but any such decision would be announced by the party’s recognised leadership. The statement comes amid continuing political realignments and coalition discussions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Aniebonam identified himself as founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees and named Dr Agbo Major as National Chairman, Oginni Olaposi as National Secretary, Prince Toyese as National Treasurer and Aisha Kade Onyia as National Woman Leader.

INEC’s current online listing confirms Dr Agbo Gilbert Major as National Chairman, Com. Olaposi Sunday Oginni as National Secretary and Prince Adetoyese Omokanye as National Treasurer, with the NNPP entry marked “By Court Order.”

The NNPP urged politicians, aspirants and members of the public to verify the identity and authority of anyone claiming to represent the party before entering into financial, electoral or political arrangements with them.
