APC Youth Leader Urges Oyebanji to Prioritise Young People in New Appointments

The All Progressives Congress South-West Youth Leader, Adesuyi Daramola, has urged Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to give greater consideration to competent young people as he assembles his next team of political appointees.

Daramola said Oyebanji’s second term provides an opportunity to increase youth participation in governance and create more avenues for qualified young Ekiti indigenes to contribute to the administration.

Oyebanji is scheduled to begin his second term on October 16, 2026, after his re-election in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election.

His appeal comes days after the governor approved the dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals in the state and terminated the appointments of political aides, including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants.

In a statement issued through his Media and Publicity Director, Remilekun Oyelowo, Daramola said qualified young people should be given opportunities to serve in the next administration.

“We respectfully appeal to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to remember the youths of Ekiti State as he constitutes his next team of political appointees,” he said.

Daramola argued that appointing competent young people would strengthen their confidence in government and allow the administration to benefit from their skills, ideas and experience.

He also commended the outgoing political appointees for their contributions to the state, saying the transition provided an opportunity to introduce fresh perspectives while retaining valuable institutional knowledge.

The APC youth leader further encouraged young people in Ekiti to continue developing their skills, knowledge and leadership capacity so they can take advantage of opportunities in public service.

He said increased youth participation could also strengthen the relationship between the state government and younger residents as Oyebanji begins his second term.
