RMD Urges Nigerians to Stop Criticising and Start Solving Nigeria’s Problems

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has urged Nigerians to move beyond criticising the country’s challenges and play an active role in finding solutions.

RMD made the call while speaking at the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos, where he acknowledged the numerous problems facing the country but stressed that identifying them was not enough.

“There are problems, but we need to fix them. Don’t stand and just criticise and propose no solution,” the veteran actor said.

He also called for greater accountability from political leaders, arguing that elected officials must take responsibility for the people they represent.

According to RMD, Nigerians do not hold their leaders accountable enough and must make it clear to public office holders that they are answerable to the citizens who entrusted them with power.

“We don’t hold leadership accountable enough,” he said.

The actor also urged Nigerians to recognise their responsibility in shaping the country’s image, particularly when they travel abroad or interact with people from other countries.

“Just remember who you are. You are an ambassador, not just for yourself, your parents or your school, but ultimately for your country,” he added.

RMD described Nigeria as a “work in progress” and called for patience, personal responsibility and sustained efforts from both citizens and leaders.

He said national development would require Nigerians to contribute to solving problems while demanding responsible leadership from those in public office.
