Nollywood Actor CJay Nwoks Dies in Lagos, Nkechi Blessing Cancels Movie Release

Nollywood actor Chijioke Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay Nwoks, has died in Lagos State, with actress Nkechi Blessing announcing his death in an emotional video.
CJay died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at an undisclosed hospital in the Badore area of Lagos State. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been made public.
Nkechi Blessing, who recently cast CJay as the lead actor in her new movie, broke the news while explaining why the film would no longer be released as planned.
The actress was visibly emotional in the video shared on her Instagram page as she spoke about the actor’s death.
“It took me a lot to do this video because we won’t be dropping the movie again by 5pm,” she said.
Nkechi said she was at the hospital in Badore when she made the announcement. “Right now, I’m in the hospital in Badore. I just lost CJay. CJay is dead. I don’t even know where to start,” she said.
The actor’s death has also brought an abrupt end to plans for the release of the movie in which he was cast as the lead. Nkechi did not provide further details about what would happen to the production beyond confirming that it would not be released as scheduled.
