Man City Sweat Over Haaland Fitness After He Limps Off Against Portugal

Manchester City are facing concerns over the fitness of Erling Haaland after the striker was forced off during Norway’s UEFA Nations League clash with Portugal on Sunday.

Haaland requested to be substituted in the second half and was replaced by Jørgen Strand Larsen in the 67th minute.

The incident comes after the Manchester City forward played every minute of Norway’s previous three matches during the international break.

Haaland scored twice in Norway’s 3-2 victory over Denmark before finding the net again in their 2-1 defeat to Portugal in their first meeting.

Manchester City will now await further medical assessment to determine the extent of the issue and whether Haaland will be available for their Premier League trip to Liverpool on October 11.

The 26-year-old has been in strong scoring form for City this season, registering seven goals in seven appearances across all competitions.

City are already expected to be without Phil Foden for the trip to Anfield as he serves a suspension following his red card.

There are also fitness concerns surrounding Nico O’Reilly and Antoine Semenyo, potentially leaving manager Enzo Maresca with further selection problems ahead of the clash.

A medical update on Haaland is expected to provide clarity on whether the striker can recover in time for the crucial Premier League fixture.
