PDP Inaugurates Imo East Senatorial Campaign Council, Madumere Declares Readiness for 2027 Victory

The official flag-off and inauguration of the 2027 Imo East Senatorial District Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by the party’s candidate and former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, MFR, has been held, with the campaign team declaring its readiness to secure victory at the polls.

The political gathering, according to our reporter, took place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Imo State PDP Secretariat, off Okigwe Road, Owerri.

The event attracted prominent PDP leaders, political stakeholders, party members, youths, women leaders, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as supporters from the nine local government areas that make up Owerri Zone.

Speaking at the occasion, a frontline 2027 governorship aspirant and National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, popularly known as Sam-Daddy, described the “Rainbow Coalition” as a credible political platform upon which the PDP in Imo State is anchored.

Anyanwu inaugurating Imo East Senatorial Campaign Council at the PDP Secretariat, Owerri, Imo State, advised politicians opposed to the Rainbow Coalition to concentrate on developing their own political strategies and convincing the electorate rather than resisting an arrangement which, according to him, provides a credible platform capable of delivering electoral victories across party lines.

“Those afraid of Rainbow Coalition cannot win election on a free and fair basis. It is only PDP across the state that is currently campaigning. Other political parties, including APC in Imo State, are afraid to campaign,” he said.

He charged members of the campaign council to give their best towards delivering all PDP candidates in the 2027 elections, stressing that victory for the party would create the pathway for its return to the Government House.

“Put in your best and deliver our candidates. By the time our candidates are delivered, everyone will smile. Their winning will pave way for our entrance to Government House. Everybody should work together,” he said.

The PDP National Secretary further maintained that the party’s candidates possess the experience and capacity required to defeat their opponents in the 2027 elections.

He urged party members and campaign council officials not to be intimidated by any individual or political party, but to conduct their activities within the ambit of the law.

The newly inaugurated Imo East Senatorial Campaign Council elected Hon. Tony Iheanacho as Chairman, Tony Ahunanya as Director-General, Mazi Nati Iwuagwu as Deputy Director-General, and Michael Isaac as Secretary.

Speaking after the inauguration, the former Deputy Governor of Imo State and PDP Senatorial candidate for Imo East, Prince Eze Madumere, MFR, expressed confidence in his ability and that of his campaign team to emerge victorious in the January 2027 election.

Madumere said his emergence as the PDP candidate was not accidental, but the product of a coordinated effort aimed at contributing to the political and developmental advancement of Owerri Zone, Imo State and Nigeria at large.

He declared that his campaign had embarked on what he described as an “ordained journey of grace” that would ultimately culminate in victory.

“We have embarked on this ordained journey of grace that will lead us to victory. There is nothing to be afraid of; we are determined to win this election. We have prepared for this journey and today, we declare our readiness to move,” Madumere said.

The former Deputy Governor also expressed concern over insecurity, youth unemployment and rising poverty across Owerri Zone, alleging that the current leadership had not done enough to address the challenges confronting the people.

According to him, “Insecurity has taken over Owerri Zone, youth unemployment is running rough in the zone, poverty is increasing and those leading us are not doing anything to save our people.”

Madumere assured the people of Owerri Zone that his team was determined to restore confidence in political leadership.

He also appealed to PDP members, supporters and residents of the zone to support his candidacy and other PDP candidates on the ballot in the January 2027 Senatorial election.

The event was attended by the PDP Chairman in Imo State, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu; Hon. Mike Ahumibe; Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN; Hon. Uche Ogbuagu; Hon. Ndidi Iheme; Hon. Arthur Ugochukwu; Barr. Anukanti; and other prominent party leaders and stakeholders.

Among others present were State House of Assembly candidates from Owerri Zone, members of the PDP zonal leadership, LGA party chairmen, youth and women leaders, as well as other party faithful and supporters.

The successful inauguration formally sets the stage for Prince Eze Madumere’s campaign for the Imo East Senatorial District seat in the 2027 election, with the campaign council pledging to mobilise support across Owerri Zone and work towards victory for the PDP candidate.

With the campaign anchored on the theme “Journey of Grace 2027,” Prince Eze Madumere and his team have declared their determination to pursue the senatorial contest with confidence, unity and a firm commitment to victory.
