Russia responded before half-time, scoring twice to turn the game around and take a 2-1 lead into the break.
The hosts increased their advantage early in the second half to make it 3-1, leaving Nigeria facing a difficult comeback.
The Super Eagles, however, refused to give up.
Teenage debutant Peter Edokpolor pulled one back in the 78th minute to reduce the deficit and give Nigeria renewed hope.
Nigeria completed the comeback deep into stoppage time when Akor Adams scored the equaliser to secure a 3-3 draw.
