Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has mourned the death of the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie Ancient Kingdom, HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, who died at the age of 89.
Kalu, in a condolence message, described the late monarch as a respected traditional ruler who devoted decades to serving his people and promoting the development of Ebem Ohafia.
The senator said the monarch died only months after the community celebrated his 89th birthday and 35 years on the throne.
Kalu described Ezie Ukoha as a man of peace and wisdom who worked to promote unity in Ebem Ohafia while protecting the customs and traditions of the community.
“I received with sadness the news of the passing of HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie Ancient Kingdom, at the age of 89,” Kalu said.
He said the monarch’s death was a significant loss to Ebem Ohafia, the wider Ohafia community and Abia State, while extending his condolences to the deceased’s family, the Council of Chiefs and Elders, the Ebem Ohafia Development Union and the entire community.
Kalu urged the people of Ebem Ohafia to draw strength from the monarch’s long life, 35 years on the throne and the legacy he left behind.
“As we mourn, we should also take solace in his long and fulfilled life, his 35 years of service on the throne and the legacies he left behind,” he said.
The former governor prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and the people of Ebem Ohafia, asking God to grant the late monarch eternal rest.
