The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Chima Anyaso, has urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to reject electoral violence and resist attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
Anyaso made the call on Wednesday in Uzuakoli during the signing of a social contract with residents of Bende Local Government Area and the presentation of his manifesto to stakeholders, party leaders and residents.
Addressing representatives from the constituency’s 13 wards, including traditional rulers, youths, pressure groups and civil society organisations, he warned young people against allowing politicians to use them to perpetrate violence during the elections.
“No election is worth your life. No politician’s ambition is worth destroying your future,” Anyaso said.
The Igbere-born entrepreneur also presented a development pact outlining his proposed agenda for Bende. He said the document was designed around the needs and challenges facing communities across the federal constituency.
Anyaso criticised what he described as inadequate representation and poor infrastructure despite the resources accruing to Bende, promising to pursue better roads, hospitals and schools if elected.
“I would attract quality roads, hospitals, schools, and adequately fund skills acquisition and other opportunities for youths and women,” he said.
He also urged voters to examine the records and credentials of candidates before voting in 2027, while calling on residents to reject what he described as empty promises and demand transparency, accountability and measurable results from their representatives.
Anyaso pledged to serve a maximum of two terms if elected, citing the political understanding between the Umunna and Ikwu Isii blocs. He said he would support an Ikwu Isii candidate when appropriate rather than seek a third term.
The candidate also urged his supporters not to be intimidated, insisting that voters should be free to support their preferred candidates. “Do not be afraid. Do not allow anybody to intimidate you because you have chosen to support me,” he said.
Several Labour Party leaders and stakeholders, including the party’s Abia State Chairman, Chief Peter Azubuike, and other officials, commended the pact and pledged support for Anyaso’s political ambition.
