Lord of Ajasa Announces He Is Now a US Citizen

Veteran Nigerian rapper Olusegun Osaniyi, popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, has announced that he has become a United States citizen.

The Yoruba rap pioneer shared the news with his fans on Instagram through a series of videos and photographs featuring himself and his wife, Funmi.

In one of the videos, Lord of Ajasa displayed his US citizenship certificate alongside the American flag before announcing that he had officially acquired American citizenship.

“My fans, I’m now a US citizen; you all should know. This is my new country’s flag. I’m now fighting for my new country,” the rapper said.

He also posted a photograph of himself and his wife holding the American flag, while another post carried the message, “Thank You America.”

Lord of Ajasa’s announcement marks a new chapter for an artiste widely recognised for helping to popularise Yoruba-language rap in Nigeria.

He rose to prominence in the early 2000s and became known for songs such as “Ma Yi Lo,” “Le Fenu So” and “Esha Lo Bade.”

The rapper has also collaborated with notable Nigerian artistes, including 9ice, Olamide and the late Da Grin, further cementing his place in the history of Nigeria’s hip-hop scene.
