Timi Frank Urges Trump to Impose Visa Bans, Asset Freezes on Officials Over 2027 Election

Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on United States President Donald Trump to impose visa bans, asset freezes and other restrictions on Nigerian government officials who attempt to manipulate the 2027 presidential election.

Frank made the appeal in a notice addressed to Trump on Tuesday, urging the US administration to intervene diplomatically to promote free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria.

He proposed what he described as a “No Mandate From Fraud” policy, arguing that individuals who undermine the electoral process should face consequences rather than benefit from electoral manipulation.

According to Frank, the US government should take preventive action before the elections instead of waiting until alleged irregularities have occurred and their consequences have become difficult to reverse.

“The Trump administration must act now to ensure electoral integrity in Nigeria. The time to act is before the elections, not after the damage has been done,” Frank said.

He further called for individual sanctions against anyone found to have participated in manipulating, falsifying or rigging the 2027 election.

“Any individual who participates in the manipulation, falsification, or rigging of the 2027 election will face immediate, individual consequences,” he added.

Frank argued that credible elections are essential to accountable leadership, economic development and national stability, maintaining that electoral integrity should be a priority for both Nigerian authorities and the international community.

His appeal places renewed attention on the role foreign governments could play in discouraging electoral malpractice ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. However, the proposed restrictions remain Frank’s request; the statement provided does not establish that the Trump administration has adopted the policy or announced sanctions against Nigerian officials.
