Political commentator Mahdi Shehu has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the inclusion of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Betta Edu, in its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election.
Shehu questioned Edu’s appointment as Director of Women Mobilisation in the campaign council, citing reported investigations involving her and raising concerns about the party’s decision to give her a prominent political role.
He made the comments in a post on his official X account on Thursday, a day after the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the inauguration on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu charged Edu, members of the Women’s Directorate and other party leaders to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work towards the APC’s victory in the 2027 elections.
