Nigerian students can qualify for 10 additional shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE at no cost under a student grant initiative introduced by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
The programme is designed to promote financial inclusion, encourage savings and investment, and introduce young Nigerians to the capital market. It is linked to the refinery’s ongoing initial public offering (IPO) and is available to eligible students who meet the foundation’s requirements.
Under the initiative, students must first apply for and pay for a minimum of 10 refinery shares through the designated student subscription channel. Eligible applicants may then receive funding from the foundation for a separate application covering an additional 10 shares.
At the offer price of ₦525 per share, the minimum investment required from students is ₦5,250. The foundation-funded application for the additional 10 shares comes at no extra cost to qualifying students. However, the grant does not guarantee that shares will ultimately be allotted.
Who Is Eligible for the Dangote Student Share Grant?
According to the programme’s terms and conditions, applicants must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in an eligible public or private tertiary institution in Nigeria, including a university, polytechnic or college of education.
Postgraduate students are excluded from the initiative. Applicants must also provide the information required to verify their student status, possess a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN), and complete the applicable identity verification and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.
Students must apply in their own names and for their own benefit, pay for at least 10 shares through the approved channel, and meet the other requirements stipulated by the foundation. Each eligible student may be considered for the grant only once.
How to Apply for the Free Shares
Interested students should begin by visiting the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s official Share Grant Initiative portal at https://ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org/students.
Applicants are required to provide details such as their institution’s name, matriculation number, BVN, email address and phone number for verification. They should ensure that the information supplied is accurate and consistent with their school and identity records.
After submitting their details, students should follow the instructions on the official platform to complete the verification process and proceed to the designated subscription channel.
Eligible applicants must then complete the applicable identity verification and KYC requirements, review the IPO documents, and apply for at least 10 shares in their own names. At ₦525 per share, this requires a payment of ₦5,250.
Once the required eligibility, payment and application checks have been completed, the foundation may fund and submit a separate application for 10 additional shares on behalf of a qualifying student. However, the foundation retains discretion over whether to fund and submit the application, and the allotment of shares is not guaranteed.
When Is the Application Deadline?
The official Dangote IPO account announced on X that the Student Share Grant Initiative would close on October 27, 2026.
Students interested in the programme should check the official foundation portal to confirm that the application channel remains open and review any updates to the deadline before applying.
Important Things Students Should Know
The initiative applies specifically to the IPO of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE. It does not cover shares in other Dangote companies or any other business.
Students should also understand that applying for shares does not automatically mean they will receive them. Final allotments depend on the applicable IPO procedures.
The foundation has not guaranteed investment returns or an increase in the value of the shares. As with other investments, the market value of the shares may rise or fall.
Applicants are advised to use only the official initiative website and designated subscription channel, read the terms and conditions carefully, and avoid sending money or personal information to individuals who claim they can guarantee the free shares.
