Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has publicly apologised to her colleague and former associate, Laide Bakare, following criticism over her reaction during a recent interview on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast.
Badmus issued the apology on Tuesday after facing backlash on social media over her response when Bakare’s name came up during the interview.
The actress, who has reportedly been estranged from Bakare, addressed the controversy in a series of posts on Instagram, acknowledging that her reaction may have been perceived negatively.
In her apology, Badmus admitted that her response could have appeared dismissive and expressed regret over the impression it created.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
She also addressed Bakare directly, saying she wanted peace between them despite their differences.
“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well. Joo maa binu (please don’t be offended) no negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns,” Badmus added.
The apology comes amid online reactions to the interview, with the actress seeking to address the controversy and convey a willingness to move past any lingering tension.
Badmus and Bakare have previously been described as being on unfriendly terms. However, it remains unclear whether Bakare has responded publicly to the apology.
