Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared that he and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde are not afraid of anyone as they pursue their political ambitions under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Mohammed made the declaration on Thursday during the party’s South-West town hall meeting in Akure, Ondo State, where he described the APM as Nigeria’s biggest opposition party.
The Bauchi governor said the party might be relatively young, but its members were driven by knowledge, clear plans and an understanding of the direction they wanted the country to take.
“We are young but we are not young upstairs as we are driven by knowledge, plans, we know where we are coming from and where we want to go,” Mohammed said.
He also thanked the APM for providing a political platform for him and Makinde, saying the two governors had continued their political journey together until they could no longer remain in their previous political arrangement.
Mohammed described Makinde as a visionary leader and referred to the South-West as his political home. He urged people in the region to support the party’s vision, saying the choice before them was an opportunity to shape the country’s political future.
The governor further argued that the APM had established itself as a significant opposition platform, pointing to its two governors and the vision it was presenting to Nigerians. He also emphasised the importance of nationalism and political rotation.
“We are not afraid as opposition, me and him have always come out of opposition, we are not afraid of anybody,” he said.
His remarks came as the APM sought to position itself as a political alternative ahead of the next election cycle, with Mohammed calling on supporters in the South-West to embrace the party’s proposed direction.
