The daughters of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have announced plans to become more actively involved in acting and filmmaking, pledging to preserve their father’s legacy in the Nigerian movie industry.
The sisters, Taiwo Halima Olamide, known as Lima Ogogo, and Shakirat Taiwo, popularly called Kira Ogogo, made the announcement in an appreciation video shared on Instagram and reported by PUNCH Online on Friday.
In the video, the sisters expressed gratitude to fans, public figures and well-wishers who supported their family following the death of their father in August 2026.
“You guys loved our daddy so much. This is an appreciation video to tell you people thank you,” they said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Lima added, “On behalf of my family and I, we want to say thank you very much to everybody who stood by us.”
The sisters also acknowledged the support they received from several prominent personalities, including Honourable Tayo Ayinde, Nigeria’s First Lady, the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and the Olu of Ilaro.
They expressed appreciation for the messages of condolence and other gestures of support extended to the family during their period of mourning.
Beyond expressing gratitude, the sisters revealed their intention to pursue careers in the entertainment industry more actively, describing their decision as a long-term commitment rather than simply an effort to honour their late father.
“We are going to start seeing Ogogo through my sister Kira Ogogo. We are coming to the industry, and we’re here to stay,” Lima stated.
They also appealed to fans who enjoyed their father’s movies to extend similar support to their upcoming projects.
The sisters encouraged their supporters to watch, share and promote their films and other creative content, particularly through Kira Ogogo’s YouTube channel, KiraOgogoTV.
Ogogo was a respected figure in Yoruba cinema, known for his calm and authoritative screen presence. He died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, following a battle with stage-four cancer.
He was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
His death sparked widespread tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the entertainment industry, many of whom celebrated his contributions to Nigerian cinema.
The decision by his daughters to pursue acting and filmmaking is expected to provide another avenue for audiences to connect with the legacy of the late actor through a new generation of creative projects.
