Atiku Slams Tinubu Over Security for Campaign Billboards in Kaduna

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the reported security arrangements around his campaign billboards in Kaduna State, accusing the government of misplaced priorities amid persistent insecurity across Nigeria.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), argued that the protection reportedly provided for the president’s billboards contrasted sharply with the security challenges facing communities affected by banditry and terrorism.

The former vice-president made the remarks in a post on his official X account on Friday.

“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear,” Atiku wrote.

He questioned why security personnel were reportedly deployed to protect the president’s campaign materials while many Nigerians continued to face threats from armed groups.

Atiku further argued that the situation reflected a troubling contrast between the protection given to the president’s public image and the security concerns confronting ordinary citizens.

“Your posters enjoy protection that millions of Nigerians can only dream of. What a tragic statement of your government’s priorities,” he added.

The ADC presidential candidate urged Tinubu to demonstrate the same urgency in protecting citizens as he allegedly showed in safeguarding his public image.

“Bola, please protect Nigerians with the same urgency you protect your image!” he said.

Atiku’s comments add to the political debate over the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, particularly attacks by bandits and terrorists in parts of the country.

However, the claims regarding the security arrangements around the billboards were presented as part of Atiku’s criticism and were not independently established in the supplied report.
