Former Rivers State commissioner and African Democratic Congress (ADC) spokesperson in the state, Dr Leloonu Nwibubasa, has declared his determination to oppose the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over what he described as the latter’s negative impact on the future of Rivers youths.

Nwibubasa made the declaration during an appearance on Symfoni TV, where he discussed the political situation in Nigeria and Rivers State.

Explaining his resolve to challenge Wike politically, the ADC spokesperson drew an analogy from the Bible, referencing the account of Jesus being presented at the temple.

“If you read the Bible, a child was taken to the temple to be dedicated, his name was Jesus, and the man that was to dedicate him was called Simon, and he said this child is for the rising and falling of many in Israel,” he said.

Nwibubasa subsequently declared that he was determined to work against Wike’s continued political influence.

“I am for the falling of Nyesom Wike. I am the weapon fashioned against him because that’s why I have not gone back to him like other people who worked with him and they go back to him,” he said.

The former commissioner added that he was not seeking personal benefits from Wike, insisting that his position was driven by his convictions.

“I can’t go back because I am not looking for anything else but natural comfort,” he added.

Nwibubasa accused the FCT minister of limiting the political prospects of young people in Rivers State, arguing that opposing him was a worthwhile cause.

“So clearly he is one man that I will stand to speak against and ensure he doesn’t continue because he has imprisoned the destiny in millions of Rivers youth, such fight is a good fight,” he said.

His remarks come amid ongoing political discussions over Wike’s influence in Rivers State and the future direction of the state’s political landscape.
