Imo Stakeholders Seek Answers From Ugochinyere Over 2,000 Reported Mini Buses

Stakeholders in Ideato Federal Constituency, Imo State, are seeking clarification from House of Representatives member Ikenga Ugochinyere over the reported non-delivery of 2,000 mini buses allegedly approved under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mass Transit Scheme.

According to a report by GrassrootReporters, the Ideato Progressive Alliance raised concerns over the delay, saying residents were still waiting for the promised transportation intervention.

The group reportedly questioned the status of the buses and sought details about the approval, funding, procurement process and expected delivery timeline.

The report also raised questions about a proposed ₦1 million support package for each beneficiary to facilitate the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG).

The initiative is reportedly intended to support mass transportation, although questions remain about the implementation and delivery arrangements surrounding the buses.

The concerns have prompted calls for greater transparency regarding the programme and clarification on the responsibilities of those involved in its execution.

However, the allegations concerning the approval and non-delivery of the buses have not been independently verified. The report reviewed also did not include a response from Ugochinyere.

Clarification is therefore being sought on whether the buses were formally approved, how the programme is being funded and when the vehicles, if approved, are expected to be delivered to beneficiaries in Ideato Federal Constituency.
