NDC Defends 2027 Campaign Strategy, Says It Prioritises Direct Engagement

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has defended its campaign strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that its approach focuses on engaging citizens and presenting policy ideas rather than generating political noise.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television, saying the NDC had organised at least four town hall meetings to interact with citizens and understand their concerns.

Director said the party had listened to public feedback and presented its plans, dismissing criticism that it was falling behind other political parties in preparations for the elections.

According to him, the NDC is prioritising direct engagement and substantive discussions over social media activity and political rallies.

He maintained that the party’s strategy was designed to connect with Nigerians and communicate its agenda through conversations that address their concerns.

The comments come amid increasing political activity as parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, the NDC has unveiled a 118-member National Campaign Council to coordinate its campaign activities and nationwide mobilisation.

Senator Seriake Dickson will serve as chairman of the council, while the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will serve as co-chairman.

The party says the council will play a key role in coordinating its campaign structure and expanding engagement with voters across the country.

As preparations for the elections continue, political parties are pursuing different approaches to reaching voters and communicating their priorities.
