Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s speech at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State, saying the president’s aides failed to prepare him adequately for the outing.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Oseni described the speech as one of the worst campaign speeches he had heard and questioned why Tinubu was allowed to address supporters without a clear and well-structured message.

“I think that was the worst campaign speech I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu,” Oseni said.

The broadcaster argued that Tinubu’s campaign team should have prepared a concise speech outlining the administration’s achievements and explaining its policies to Nigerians after nearly four years in office.

According to Oseni, a carefully prepared five-minute address would have helped the president communicate his policies and make a stronger case for his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He questioned the preparedness of the president’s campaign council, expressing concern that Tinubu was left to deliver what he described as a disjointed and poorly coordinated speech.

“What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” Oseni asked, criticising the president’s aides over their handling of the rally.

Oseni also faulted Tinubu’s comments on the removal of the petrol subsidy and his remarks linking the poverty and hunger confronting Nigerians to the opposition.

He argued that the speech lacked structure, coherence and a clear ideological direction, adding that it did not adequately defend the administration’s policies.

“You just allow a man like that to ad lib at his inaugural campaign speech after four years in office, where he needs to make a great defence, what did you guys do to him?” he said.

The broadcaster maintained that the campaign team had failed to provide the president with adequate preparation for an important appearance at the start of the APC’s campaign activities.

“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” Oseni added.

The APC has commenced campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Tinubu seeking another term in office. Oseni’s comments reflect his assessment of the president’s speech and the preparation behind it.
