Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reportedly injured, while personal belongings and vehicles were damaged following violence along the route to the Tinubu–Dikko campaign flag-off in Funtua Zone, Katsina State, on Wednesday.

The affected supporters, who said they were travelling in the convoy of Governor Dikko Radda, alleged that groups of youths and hoodlums attacked them while they were heading to the campaign venue, where the governor was scheduled to present his administration’s Building Your Future scorecard.

Some of the victims told reporters that mobile phones, clothing and other personal belongings were destroyed during the incident. They also reported sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

According to the victims, the attackers were armed with machetes, knives, stones and bottles and assaulted them without provocation.

“We were simply on our way to attend the campaign flag-off when we encountered some angry youths who attacked us with stones and bottles. Many people were injured, and our property was destroyed. We cannot afford to replace what we lost,” one of the victims said.

The affected supporters appealed to security agencies and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

Earlier, disturbances were also reportedly observed around the Malumfashi town roundabout linking Bakori Local Government Area. Stones were seen scattered across the road, while several vehicles reportedly sustained damaged windscreens.

Despite the reported violence, Governor Radda proceeded with the presentation of his administration’s Building Your Future scorecard. During the event, he highlighted achievements recorded since assuming office and outlined ongoing projects across key sectors ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The statewide campaign is intended to strengthen grassroots engagement by taking the administration’s performance record and development agenda directly to communities across the Funtua, Daura and Katsina senatorial zones.

The campaign is expected to cover all 34 local government areas and 361 wards across the state.

At the time the report was filed, authorities had not issued an official statement on the alleged attacks.
