17-Year-Old Girl Dies After Alleged Push From Two-Storey Building in Owerri, Suspect Arrested

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of 17-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokore, who was allegedly pushed from a two-storey building in Owerri.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 1, 2026, along Mbonu Ejike Street, Ikenegbu, in Owerri, the state capital.

The police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, who allegedly pushed the teenager from the building.

In an update issued on Wednesday, November 4, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed that Chukwuokore had died following the incident.

Following the victim’s death, the suspect is now facing a murder allegation and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

The police also appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information while investigations are ongoing.
