Otti Mandate Circle praises massive Aba reception, says support reflects public approval of governor’s reforms
A prominent pro-government support group, the Otti Mandate Circle (OMC), has described the planned re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, in 2027 as a “divinely ordained project,” following a high-profile endorsement and a ₦100 million donation from leaders and stakeholders in Ukwa La Ngwa.
The group commended the people of Ukwa La Ngwa and the leadership of the Aba Union for what it called an overwhelming show of support for the governor during a grand civic reception held at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Friday, January 30, 2026.
According to OMC, the region’s endorsement of Governor Otti ahead of the next general election, alongside the donation earmarked for the purchase of his nomination and expression of interest forms, signals strong confidence in his leadership and reform agenda.
The event was coordinated by the Ukwa La Ngwa Steering Committee led by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, and the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba.
In a statement jointly signed by Chief Eric Achi Egwuibe and Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa — Special Adviser on Budget and Planning and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs respectively — the group described the reception as unprecedented in the political history of Ukwa La Ngwa.
“The Otti Mandate Circle heartily congratulates the people of Ukwa La Ngwa and the leadership of Aba Union under Barr. Theo Nkire for staging a historic civic reception in honour of Governor Alex Otti, whose commitment to accountability, good governance and people-focused development has restored hope across Abia State,” the statement read.
OMC said the endorsement and financial contribution were “eloquent testimonies” of public appreciation for what it described as visible transformation across the state under the current administration.
“The re-election of Governor Otti is a divine and heavenly sealed project that will be delivered for the sustainability of the ongoing reforms and transformation in Abia State,” the group added.
The statement also took a swipe at previous administrations, accusing them of failing to maximise opportunities for development, and said Governor Otti had changed the narrative within three years in office through what it called competence and visionary leadership.
OMC further criticised opposition figures it accused of refusing to acknowledge the impact of ongoing reforms, insisting that the governor had restored Abia’s image after years of stagnation.
Reaffirming its loyalty, the group pledged to work with Abia Arise and other stakeholders to mobilise grassroots support for Governor Otti’s re-election and for Labour Party candidates in the 2027 polls.
