APC Mocks Amaechi: “Rejected Rivers Politician Can’t Lead Revolt Against Tinubu”

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ridiculed former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent comments urging Nigerians to mobilize against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party described Amaechi’s remarks as “political hallucination” and a “well-deserved contempt,” insisting that a man who has lost political relevance in his home state cannot lead a national movement.

In a statement released on Wednesday, APC Lagos spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, dismissed Amaechi as “a political orphan,” saying the former Rivers State governor has been “disowned at home and forgotten nationally.”

“Amaechi is free to dream, but he must stop mistaking his nightmares for national reality,” Oladejo said. “In Rivers today, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is seen as a provocative joke. He has lost his structure, his followers, and his voice.”

Oladejo questioned the former minister’s credibility to rally support against President Tinubu.
“Mobilize who?” he asked. “The few loyalists left in his WhatsApp group? The politicians who abandoned him after he lost the presidential primaries? Or the same Rivers electorate who no longer take him seriously?”

He added that someone “declared politically non-grata” in his own state cannot lead a national revolt against Tinubu’s reelection.
“You cannot lead a national movement when your own backyard has padlocked the gate against you,” he said.

Amaechi, who served as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, recently told Nigerians to begin mobilizing to defeat President Tinubu in 2027 — a comment that has since drawn sharp criticism from APC loyalists across the country.
