APC: Nyesom Wike Not Our Member, PDP Should Address Anti-Party Concerns

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, is not a member of the party, despite his recent support for APC candidates in the FCT area council elections.

Wike, a longstanding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), actively campaigned for APC candidates, helping the party secure victories in five of the six local government areas during the election.

APC Deflects on Anti-Party Activity

Asked on Arise News whether the party would take action if a member engaged in anti-party activities, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka stressed that Wike’s actions fall under PDP’s jurisdiction.

“No, listen, you’re asking for me to speculate, and I will not speculate,” Morka said. “That question is for the PDP. You should direct that question to the PDP as to how they organize their party, how they treat their members, how they handle matters like this in the Peoples Democratic Party. I cannot speculate on a matter that rests exclusively within the party.”

Wike’s Alignment with Tinubu’s Agenda

Ahead of the election, Wike vowed to support candidates aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, signaling his political influence and strategic role in shaping local electoral outcomes, even beyond party lines.

The situation highlights the delicate balance of party loyalty and political alliances in Nigeria, raising questions about cross-party endorsements and their impact on democratic processes.
