Awka, Nigeria – The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will begin a nationwide electronic membership registration on March 1, as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made by Dr Ejimofor Opara, APGA National Publicity Secretary, during a press briefing in Awka on Friday. The party confirmed that the registration exercise will be conducted simultaneously across all 8,809 electoral wards in Nigeria.
Dr Opara emphasized that the exercise reflects APGA’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and inclusive party administration. He noted that APGA was the first political party in Nigeria to automate its membership registration process in June 2024, a move aimed at enhancing efficiency and broadening citizen participation.
Eligible Nigerians are required to present a valid voter’s card and two passport photographs to complete registration. Members can register online via the party’s official website, and will receive a temporary membership slip, pending the issuance of permanent membership cards. Existing members who have already registered electronically are not required to re-register but are encouraged to update their records by uploading their passport photographs online or via the party’s designated WhatsApp platform.
Dr Opara revealed that the party is approaching the one million membership mark, and the ongoing registration drive aims to double that figure to two million.
“We invite all eligible Nigerians to seize this opportunity to join the APGA family and contribute to shaping the future of our great nation. Together, we move forward,” Opara said.
The initiative is part of APGA’s strategy to strengthen grassroots engagement and consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
