The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially released its timetable for the 2025 National and State Assembly by-election primaries, aligning with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines. The crucial vote is set for August 16, 2025, and will span two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies, and nine state constituencies.
According to a statement signed by APGA’s National Organizing Secretary, Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will begin on July 3 and close on July 9. Aspirants will undergo screening on July 12, with appeals scheduled for July 13.
Ward congresses to elect ad-hoc delegates across designated wards are slated for July 15, setting the stage for the primaries scheduled for July 21. On the same day, the party will also entertain and resolve any disputes that may arise from the exercise.
Cost of nomination has been fixed at ₦10 million for Senate aspirants, ₦6 million for House of Representatives, and ₦2.5 million for State House of Assembly. However, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 50% concession across all categories—a move applauded as progressive within political circles.
APGA emphasized that nomination forms must be acquired only at its National Secretariat in Abuja via non-refundable bank drafts or manager’s cheques, and each applicant must submit a valid membership card, academic certificates, and proof of payment with their completed forms.
The party also reaffirmed its authority to handpick credible and eligible aspirants at any point before the primaries, stating: “The Party reserves the right and unfettered discretion to issue forms at any time prior to the scheduled primaries.”
This latest development signals APGA’s early preparation ahead of the 2025 electoral season and its strategic commitment to inclusivity and credible representation.
