Former Vice President campaigns for ADC in Abuja ahead of local council elections
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has hailed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the only political party capable of rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the failures of the ruling APC government.
Speaking on Thursday during the campaign of Dr. Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Atiku urged voters to support ADC candidates in the February 21, 2026 local council elections.
Atiku described Dr. Paul, popularly known as Dr. Mo, as a relatable and trustworthy leader for the youth in Abuja. He emphasized that electing him would be a crucial step toward political change in the Federal Capital Territory.
“Dr Mo is the kind of Nigerian young people in Abuja can relate to and trust with the future of the Municipal Council. I encourage FCT voters, including those in AMAC, to vote for all ADC candidates in these elections. This would be the first step towards ousting the failed APC government,” Atiku said.
Atiku positioned the ADC as the party most capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-political and economic challenges. He highlighted the AMAC chairmanship race as a microcosm of the broader push for political reform at the national level.
“ADC is undoubtedly the party that will salvage Nigeria, and the surest bet is to start with Dr Mo and AMAC,” he added.
The former vice president’s endorsement marks a significant boost for the ADC ahead of the local government elections, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, where the party seeks to expand its influence.
