Bandits Kill Two Brothers, Abduct Several Residents in Fresh Katsina Attacks

Armed bandits have killed two brothers and abducted several residents during a night raid on Doguwar Dorawa, a farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Witnesses said the attackers stormed the village around 10 p.m. on Thursday, killing two respected elders, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, and kidnapping multiple people in an operation that lasted over an hour without resistance.

The assailants reportedly rode motorcycles into the area, parked them in nearby bushes, and proceeded on foot to avoid detection. They looted homes, carted away valuables, and terrorised residents before retreating into the forest.

Sources told reporters the attack was carried out by loyalists of notorious bandit leaders, Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, who operate across Bakori and surrounding communities.

While Doguwar Dorawa was still reeling from the assault, another group of bandits attacked Layin ‘Yannehu community the same night, rustling a large number of livestock.

Residents said similar attacks have recently been recorded in Ganjar, Alhazawa, and Gidan Nagari, where more than 40 people were abducted and several families displaced.

The latest incident raises growing concerns about the effectiveness of the state government’s peace accord with armed groups in the region, as rural communities continue to face relentless violence and insecurity.
