Suspected armed bandits have launched fresh attacks on two rural communities in Kebbi State, leaving several residents feared dead, many injured and others abducted, in another violent episode rocking Nigeria’s North-West region.
The attacks targeted Jindani and Mai Kaho villages in Yauri Local Government Area, according to a security update shared on X on Friday by renowned security analyst Bakatsine.
Residents said the assailants stormed the communities late at night, catching villagers off guard and unleashing terror across the area. An elderly woman was confirmed among those killed during the raid, while several others sustained injuries.
In his post, Bakatsine described the victims as innocent civilians with no links to armed groups, stressing that the affected communities sit within a forest belt that has become a recurring hotspot for violent attacks, forced displacement and growing fear.
“Fresh attacks by suspected armed bandits have struck Jindani and Mai Kaho villages in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, leaving several people dead, many injured and others abducted. Among those killed was an elderly woman,” the post read.
The analyst warned that the violence reflects a widening security crisis in Nigeria’s North-West, where armed groups continue to raid villages, abduct residents and overwhelm rural communities already grappling with insecurity.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Kebbi State Government or security agencies on the incident
