Bauchi State – The Bauchi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Credibility Forum has launched early strategic consultations aimed at producing a consensus governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Acting Chairman Dan’Umma Bello announced the initiative following an emergency meeting of key party stakeholders in Bauchi. Bello emphasized the need to unite the party and avoid divisions that previously undermined APC’s electoral performance.
“Our focus is not just about who wants to run. It is about who can win, who can unite the party, and who can govern well,” Bello said. “Bauchi is naturally an APC state. What we need is sincerity of purpose to reclaim the governorship through the ballot.”
The Forum currently recognizes five strong aspirants, all represented at the meeting. These included Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Senator Shehu Buba Umar; former Governor M. A. Abubakar (SAN); Alhaji Bala Hadis; Alhaji Muhammadu Ṣadé; and Hon. Gazali Abubakar Wunti.
Bello noted that all parties expressed readiness to work collectively under a single front. He added that the Forum will prioritize cohesion, strategic planning, and issue-based engagement to strengthen APC’s chances in the state.
The initiative has already received strong backing from various stakeholders committed to ensuring purposeful leadership for Bauchi under the APC banner. Bello urged members to respect differing opinions and collaborate effectively to secure victory in 2027.
