Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has urged her fellow artists to stay grounded despite global fame, warning that God can easily replace anyone in the movement.

The singer, often hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” stressed that artists are merely vessels representing the genre and must not allow success to intoxicate them.

Speaking on Hot 97 FM New York, Savage said:

“We are just ambassadors, we are just like the faces of Afrobeats. And that’s why we can’t let it get into our heads because we are just vessels and there can be somebody else. God can take it away like that. So, you have to be grounded. You have to be humble. Imagine, coming this far and then falling. That is worse than not ever tasting fame.”

She likened losing fame after success to blindness, describing it as far more painful than never experiencing it at all.

Praise for Ayra Starr, Tems, and Diamond Platnumz

Beyond her warning, Savage also celebrated some of her peers for inspiring her.

She expressed admiration for rising star Ayra Starr, describing her as a bolder version of herself:

“I love Ayra Starr, it’s almost an obsession. I see myself in her, but I see a more confident one… If I saw an article that my skirt was too short, I might wear trousers next time. But Ayra would wear an even shorter skirt the next time. I love her confidence.”

Savage also praised the mystique of Nigerian singer Tems, saying her ability to keep her personal life private added to her appeal.

On the continental scene, she hailed Tanzanian sensation Diamond Platnumz for his talent and for putting East Africa on the global music map.

Tiwa Savage’s comments come at a time when Afrobeats is experiencing unprecedented global success, with artists selling out arenas, topping charts, and dominating international festivals.
