Boko Haram Ambush in Borno Leaves CJTF Member Dead

Borno, Nigeria — Suspected Boko Haram insurgents ambushed members of a local vigilante group along the Warave–Gwoza Road in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, on Tuesday morning, killing one Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operative.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred around 7:30 a.m., when insurgents opened fire on CJTF members and local hunters during a routine patrol.

Fatalities and Response

The deceased, identified as Bello Adamu, 50, sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was evacuated to Gwoza General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His body has been released to his family and buried according to Islamic rites.

Following the ambush, troops from Operation HADIN KAI were deployed to secure the area. Military authorities have intensified patrols and surveillance along the Warave–Gwoza corridor to prevent further attacks and apprehend the assailants.

As of the time of filing this report, official statements from the military regarding the incident were yet to be released.
