
British rapper Central Cee, born Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, has publicly declared his conversion to Islam, sharing the news with fans during a recent livestream. The UK drill star confirmed that he has taken the shahada, formally embracing the Muslim faith and adopting a new name.
“I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” Central Cee stated as friends and collaborators congratulated him during the video broadcast.
Before this announcement, Central Cee had not formally disclosed his religious beliefs.
Born on 4 June 1998 in London, Central Cee has a diverse heritage, with an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese descent. Following his parents’ separation when he was seven, he was raised by his mother alongside his two younger brothers in Shepherd’s Bush.
Central Cee began pursuing music professionally in 2014, appearing on a now-deleted episode of the Fire in the Streets series. He later featured on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix with J Hus in January 2015.
