Professor Charles Soludo has officially begun his second term as Governor of Anambra State, following a decisive victory in the November 2025 elections. The inauguration ceremony took place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, drawing political leaders and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.

Soludo, alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, was sworn in during a ceremony attended by former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku. Governors, political leaders, and prominent figures from various sectors also witnessed the historic event.

Soludo secured his return to office with a landslide victory, receiving 422,664 votes in the November 8, 2025 election. His closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, garnered 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes. Sixteen candidates in total contested the election.

The election results highlighted Soludo’s dominance across the state, as he won in all 21 local government areas. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected ballots.

Speaking at the inauguration, Soludo reiterated his commitment to good governance, economic development, and inclusive leadership for the people of Anambra State. His administration’s second term is expected to focus on sustaining infrastructure development, improving education, and boosting economic opportunities across the state.
