Davido reveals he nearly quit music before career-saving Omah Lay hit

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed he was on the brink of quitting music before the success of his smash collaboration with Omah Lay.

Speaking in a viral interview, the 31-year-old singer admitted he was considering stepping away from the industry after more than a decade at the top — until his chart-topping track With You reignited his passion.

The hit single, featured on his latest album, became an instant fan favourite and reminded the multiple award-winning artist why he fell in love with music in the first place.

“Some artists get that kind of song at the start of their careers, others in the middle. For me, 13–14 years in, I was even thinking of bowing out. Then God blessed me with this song. It added more life to my journey,” Davido confessed.

The Afrobeats icon described the timing of the breakthrough as “divine,” noting that it came just as he was preparing to slow down.
