Death Row Inmate Escapes From Yobe Maximum Prison — Police Launch Manhunt

Police in Yobe State have declared Abba Hassan, a condemned inmate, wanted after he escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Potiskum.

The Yobe State Police Command confirmed the escape in a statement on Saturday, urging members of the public to be vigilant and assist in the manhunt.

Command spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, identified Hassan as a native of Borno State and warned citizens not to confront him if spotted.

“Members of the public, security agencies, transport operators, community leaders, and vigilante groups within Yobe State and neighbouring states are hereby advised to be alert and report any sighting or information that may lead to his location and prompt rearrest,” the statement said.

The police emphasized that anyone with useful information should contact the nearest police station or correctional service facility, or call the emergency number 08038452982.

Authorities have not disclosed details of how the inmate managed to escape, but a joint security operation has been launched to track him down.
