Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), has hinted that he may soon formally join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing himself as being in a period of political transition.

Musa made the disclosure during an interview on Sunday Politics, a flagship programme on Channels Television, where he spoke candidly about his evolving political alignment and loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The former Chief of Defence Staff said he remains grateful to the APC for providing the platform that led to his appointment first as CDS and later as Minister of Defence, noting that the party played a critical role in his rise to national leadership.

According to him, while he has not officially registered as a party member, his direction is clear. Musa said he sees himself becoming an APC member in the near future as he steps fully into partisan politics.

“I’ve not transitioned yet. I’m in transition. I think I’ll become a politician, a member of the APC, definitely,” he said.

The defence minister stressed that President Tinubu deserves unwavering support, especially at a time when the country faces complex security and governance challenges. He expressed readiness to back the president “in every way possible,” insisting that national stability and progress must take precedence.

Musa’s comments come amid growing political realignments within Nigeria’s power circles, as former military and technocratic figures increasingly find their footing in partisan politics under the current administration.
