Delta Kidnappers Shoot Victim Despite ₦2m Ransom, Arrests Made

Police in Delta State have arrested three suspected kidnappers who allegedly shot their victim in the leg despite collecting a ₦2 million ransom.

The victim, a young man from Ogwashi-Uku, was abducted from his home before the kidnappers forced him to transfer money from his bank account. Police say the suspects became enraged when they discovered his balance was insufficient and shot him in the leg “to teach him a lesson.”

Delta Police Command spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed that operatives traced the suspects to a bush in Ogwashi-Uku, where the victim was rescued alive but injured.

Two of the suspects, identified as Chukwuebuka Nka and Uche Okechukwu, were later arrested in Anambra State. Officers also recovered the victim’s stolen white Toyota Venza during the operation.

Further investigations led police to Agidiase village in Ogwashi-Uku, where the third suspect, Somto Chukwuma, was apprehended. Authorities also recovered the gang’s operational vehicle and a network jammer device believed to have been used to block communications during the abduction.

The police said the suspects confessed to the crime and remain in custody as investigations continue. The victim is reportedly receiving treatment for his gunshot wound.
