Delta Police Raid Criminal Gang Armoury, Seize Firearms and Ammunition

Delta State, Nigeria – The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a hidden armoury belonging to a notorious criminal gang in Adheje community along the Sapele–Warri Road, significantly disrupting the syndicate’s operations.

Weapons Recovered During Operation

During a targeted operation early on February 19, police recovered a locally made long gun, a cut-to-size firearm, and a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with five live rounds. Additional items seized included ten live cartridges and a dagger.

The operation followed intelligence obtained from Dafiaga Timothy, 25, of Effurun Community in Uvwie Local Government Area, who was handed over to police by the DPO of Orerokpe Division. Timothy is alleged to be a member of the gang responsible for terrorizing commuters and residents along the Warri–Sapele Road corridor.

Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation

SP Bright Edafe, Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police, said operatives of the Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson intensified interrogation of the suspect, which led them to the concealed hideout in Adheje.

“The recovery of these weapons has significantly disrupted the operational capability of the criminal syndicate. Investigation is ongoing,” the police statement added.

Authorities urged residents to provide information on criminal activities and reassured the public of continued efforts to ensure safety along major roads.
